Land Patents and Tax Rolls

Some people seem to think that bringing your land patent forward automatically takes your property off the tax rolls. From the research I've done so far, that doesn't seem to be the way it works. The land patent is only the first step.

Has anyone completed this process and successfully removed your property from the tax rolls?
