What will the process to change my status cost?
It’s difficult to give an exact amount, as everyone’s situation is different. But we’ve listed a few of the items that will have fees involved.
- You will need to purchase certified copies of your birth certificate. We can’t say exactly what those fees are, as they could be different in each state, and it depends on how many copies you will want.
- You will also have to have your affidavit notarized. That cost will depend on what the fees are for notary services in your area. If you are a veteran, you can usually get notary services for free at a VA Service Center.
- There are also fees for mailing your documents (affidavit and notices). We recommend that you use Certified Mail services with Return Receipt. And that will be whatever the current fees are at the post office.
- Then you will need to pay for your new passport and those fees are listed here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport.html
The good news is we have Document Builders that will save you time and money on getting your documents prepared, at no cost to you.
