Can I stop filing my taxes if I owe the IRS for back taxes?

NO, you can not just stop filing or paying your taxes.

If you have mailed your affidavit of citizenship evidence and done nothing else, you can not stop filing. The revocation of election isn't automatic; you must follow the steps to properly remove yourself from the IRS system.

You must follow several steps before you stop your yearly filing.

MOST IMPORTANTLY
You can not owe the IRS back taxes. If you currently owe taxes, you have to pay those taxes. You must be current with all your filings and taxes owed.
